WELCOME TO MY HOMEPAGE!
Many of you did not know (including myself) that I was a runner. I am in training, poor trainers, hee hee. Twenty-six miles is a LONG journey. My ultimate goal, besides crossing the finish line, is to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society rais funds so it can continue doing its job. As a member of the Team, I will participate in the marathon on behalf of local leukemia patients and will raise funds to battle leukemia- the #1 disease killer of children. It is estimated that leukima and related cancers struck more than 107,900 Americans each year and kills 60,500. :( Although the cause of these cancers remains unkown, steady advances in resaearch and treatment are bringing us closer to cures. You may be wondering where you come in? I am asking each of you to support my efforts through donations. I am deteremined to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, my personal goal is to raie $3,500. Cancer is a terrible and frightening disease; I am willing and able to do anythingin my power to help fight this disease, even if it means running 26.2 miles. No donation is too great or small, every penny counts. "Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. When you were younger the mind could make you dance all night, and the body was never tired...You've always got to make the mind take over and keep going." - George S. Patton, U.S. Army General and 1912 Olympian Bob does well in big races because he doesn't stand at the starting line and establish a pecking order. He doesn't look around and say: 'Oh, sp-and-so is here...' His great gift is his ability to focus completely on himself and his own race, and then let the place or the time take care of itself." - Coach Vince Lananna on Bob Kempainen |
